Drupal, the popular content management platform, has become mature, stable and very secure as it enters it seventh incarnation and release. Within Drupal's open source framework are thousands of modules which provide an unbelieveable array of features for not only every kind of social networking website but also for much more sophisticated e-commerce websites, business intranets and nearly every imaginable web presence in between those extremes.

Because of the growing complexity of Drupal and the extensive contributed module library and their supporting use cases, different flavors of Drupal have been popping up on the Drupal landscape. These different flavors of Drupal are focused on specific industries and/or broad based use cases. These implementations of Drupal are usually referred to as distributions or 'distros'. CSD Group's eMuni Content Management System is one of those implementations of Drupal.

The advantages of a distribution over 'regular' Drupal are numerous. Because Drupal is built on the open source model and its very popular in the United States, its suffers from many of the ailments that simply belonging to the open source world seem to perpetuate.

Some of those ailments are

lack of a centralized and organized ongoing maintenance and ongoing support
lack of centralized user training program
lack of centralized developer training program
lack of user level documentation

And, of course, there are others. Some would argue that these 'ailments' are simply the opportunity costs inherent in the open source model. We, at CSD Group, disagree.

We believe that the ailments above are the reason for our existence. CSD Group is the cure for what ails Drupal in local government.
